有的大學標榜自己是”理工科大學“,主持者嘴上不說,但是心中是覺得”科學“具有更高的實用價值,因而對於人文的知識並不是那麼看重。
這樣的理念中最大的錯誤,就是把”科學“狹隘化,僅僅理解成”自然科學“了。
對此,余英時先生早就指出:五四運動時期,胡適等人理解和推動的”科學“並非“自然科學”,而是“科學精神”和“科學方法”。
方法是科學成果的基礎,忽視人文教育,侵蝕的就是這種基礎。因此,沒有人文教育,也不會有突出的自然科學成就,“理工科大學”的提法,本身就有問題。
