Khan Academy and A.I. Tutoring Bots/Khanmigo

 

Newark public schools are cautiously trying out a new automated teaching aid from Khan Academy. The preliminary report card: “could use improvement.”



Khan Academy is an American non-profit[2] educational organization created in 2006 by Sal Khan.[1] Its goal is creating a set of online tools that help educate students.[3] The organization produces short lessons in the form of videos.[4] Its website also includes supplementary practice exercises and materials for educators. It has produced over 8,000 video lessons teaching a wide spectrum of academic subjects, originally focusing on mathematics and sciences. All resources are available for free to users of the website and application.

As of 2018, over 70 million people use Khan Academy, out of which 2.3 million students use it to prepare for the SAT.[5] As of February 2023, the Khan Academy channel on YouTube has 7.74 million subscribers and Khan Academy videos have been viewed over 2 billion times.[6]


Khanmigo[edit]

In 2023 with the developments of AI and along with the partnership with OpenAI, Khan Academy has presented to the world their new tooll that will help both Students and Teacher, Khanmigo. As of June 2023, the application is not yet available to the public, but as Khan Academy have mentioned, the application will be rolled out across the world in the coming months.
